“Basically being a Paparazzi is just a kind of press work.
But an incorruptible one. Because we photograph what is really happening,“
says Paparazzo Andreas Meyer.

SHOOTING STARS accompanies him while carrying out
his rather controversial job  during the Cannes Film Festival.

How does one become a person of public interest?
What is appropriate to be shown?
Which means are reasonable?

Meyer is on the hunt for the perfect shot.
Out on the street in front of the hotels and restaurants
he lies in wait. Between the poles of celebrity and privacy.

But the relation of photographer and star
is not as simple as the one of hunter and hunted.
Because the images are what generates publicity and
therefore the market value of a person.

In a digitalized media landscape consisting of
photographers, agencies, magazines and television networks
these images are produced, transferred, sold and published around the clock.

“The people want to see nothing but the beautiful things in life,“
according to Meyer.
“And Cannes is the perfect place for that.“
